Islamic Center of Chico

Masjid Expansion and Imam House Project

We recognized not only the necessity for expanding our facilities to accommodate our growing community but also the need to address sustainability for the masjid's ongoing expenses. In addition to constructing an extension with a larger praying area, youth lounge, additional classrooms, and more, we are also considering the rebuilding of the Imam’s house. This includes the inclusion of two apartments for rental purposes.

These apartments will serve as a means to generate revenue that can sustain some of the masjid's expenses over time. Your generous donations will not only help us achieve our goal of creating a new Islamic Community Center but also contribute to the financial sustainability of the masjid in the long term. May your contributions serve as a form of ongoing charity (Sadaqa Jariya), bringing purification and enrichment to you and your loved ones, while ensuring the continued service of the masjid to the community.

Prayer Times

“…There is no god [worthy of worship] except Me [God]. So worship Me [alone], and establish prayer for My remembrance.” - Surah Taha, Verse 14

PLEASE MONITOR YOUR CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES AND TEACH THEM TO RESPECT THE PRAYER

  • Certainly you can! You can simply follow along with the rest of the congregation or click the link below to learn how to pray in Islam. Before you pray, you will need to make wudu (purification) which you can do right before you come to the masjid or at the masjid in the bathroom. Click the links below to learn how to make wudu and how to pray.

NOTE: Men and women pray separately. Men at the front of the masjid, women in the rear. The doors are labeled.

  • Whatever modest clothing you have in your closet is fine. For women, a long dress, skirt, loose pants, and non-transparent clothing. Prayer in Islam, requires the women’s head to be covered. We have a basket of headscarves for women on the sister’s side if you need to borrow one. If you’re not comfortable coming to the masjid with a scarf on, that’s okay! You can wait until you’re inside with the women and they’ll help you get ready for prayer.

For men, avoid wearing clothing with faces, inappropriate language or designs, or shorts that are above your knees.

  • Of course you can! We only ask that you monitor your child(ren) and teach them to respect the House of Allah and those who are in prayer.

    • Silence electronic devices

    • If possible, keep loud noises to a minimum

    • Boys/girls of praying age (age 7) should be in the separate areas designated for them

Babies and children cry, it’s okay! We have a playground in the rear of the masjid if you want to take them there to help them relax and burn some energy.

  • Our imam (minister/religious community leader), Brother Abdoulhac Bande, can provide guidance. Feel free to ask for him before or after any of the prayers. Check the prayer times so you know what time you can catch him.

  • Azan or Adhan, is the initial call to prayer. One of the men at the front will make this call at the time you see on the prayer time table.

Iqama, is the second and final call to prayer signaling the community that it is time to begin the prayer. The same words are used in the azan, but it’s called faster.
